My dear friend Patricia Laspino of the Orchid Alliance Project has produced this stunning painting of the the Egret Flower (Pecteilis radiata) It is a very special species for me personally as this was the very first orchid I ever grew as a little boy! I got the bulbs out of a seed catalog, grew and bloomed them successfully on my bedroom windowsill. I will be writiing about the pollination biology of Fringed orchids in the December Issue of ORCHIDs magazine….I also wrote a haiku poem about this amazing painting which appears on Patricia’s website….check it out!
